History of Vloggercue

Vloggercue started in 2005 when a handful of videobloggers from around the world got together to talk about technical issues and content of web video, and what they were doing to shape it. The Blip.tv founders were there, after listening to videobloggers for months beforehand, and launched their service that night. There was beer and Asian barbecue, among other things.

Vloggercue 2007 was another rooftop affair, this time with many facets of the web video industry represented, as at that point there was actually a web video industry. It was less about content and personal vloggers, and more about show creators and distribution. There were beer and ribs, among other things.

Vloggercue 2010 will try to conjure the energy of Vloggercue 1, inviting anyone and everyone involved with web video. If you post videos of your cat to Youtube, you're welcome. If you founded Youtube, you're welcome. Everyone eats and drinks under the same Brooklyn roof, for free.

Bushwick Starr

Found our location. It's the Bushwick Starr, in Bushwick, Brooklyn.

Huge theater projection screen with stadium seating area, large open indoor area for mingling, shooting the shit, dancing. Large outdoor area attached with beautiful view of Manhattan skyline, hydroponic garden, outdoor bar. Plus we're bringing a grill.

Next step is securing the date/time. Hopefully will have an update on that today as well.

Vloggercue Brooklyn 2010 coming soon

I'm heading to a venue in Brooklyn tonight to scope out the space. I've heard it's awesome.

Vloggercue 2007 - NYC

A return to the roof!

The first Vloggercue was held in 2005 on my roof in Hoboken, NJ. It was a good time, and lots of videobloggers showed up from far far away.

Since then I've traversed two rivers, and now have another BBQable rooftop in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. So here we are...

It will be happening the weekend of August 10-12. There will be videos on big screens, and there will be barbecue, and there will be drinks. That is all the information we have so far, other than the fact that Charles Hope and the Blip.tv folks are planning the event with me, along with anyone else who wants to help out. Although really, it shouldn't be too much trouble. It's just a grill and some videos, right?

I'm looking forward to seeing you all again.

Yeah. So I volunteer for everything. So what. ;) Adam asked for help with this blog, and here I am.

Instead of just one annual "vloggercue," perhaps this blog can grow to be any vloggercue event that someone would like to host in the area. But I digress to the task at hand.

Summer of Vlog: What, When and Where

Michael Sullivan annouced it was the "Summer of Vlog".
What does this mean?
Well, we decided it meant we needed a Bar-B-cue to celebrate the work everyone is doing in the Videoblogging Community.
It's extremely exciting to be in the middle of a revolution(Google and iTunes recently jumped into the video publishing world)...and to know that regular people like ourselves have an opportunity to take part in shaping how video publishing could play out.

You are invited to Vloggercue 2005 on July 9th from 4pm-late in Hoboken, NJ...a ten minute train ride from Manhattan. Email Jay if you have questions.
